Extended Practicum is now open for registration

This is a prerequisite for the Advanced Course.  During this course, the participant will work directly with an instructor mentor.

  • Extended Practicum Registration Open
    The instructor will observe the participant for a minimum of three times.  After the first observation, the instructor will teach the participant about chameleon prefixes and how to teach them.  During one of the next two required observations the participant must teach a set of chameleon prefixes to a student.  Course materials will be provided.

  • IMSLEC Accreditation
    Orton-Gillingham of MN is accredited by The International Multisensory Structured Language Education Council (IMSLEC) at the Teacher and Instructor-of-Teachers levels. The announcement was made and a certificate was presented at the November 2014 meeting of the IMSLEC Council in San Diego. The mission of IMSLEC is to accredit quality training courses for the professional preparation of multisensory structured language education specialists. Accredited organizations, in turn, determine which applicants can be certified individually. Member organizations approved by IMSLEC have been pre-approved for membership in the IDA Alliance.

  • OGM Courses
    Teacher training courses provide instruction in the Orton-Gillingham Approach, a phonetic, rule-based, structured, multisensory approach to teaching reading and spelling. It is a systematic and cumulative approach involving intensive reinforcement. All courses include supervised clinical practice teaching with testing procedures and data collection to evaluate student progress. Each course participant practices with a student while under the supervision of a master teacher. Graduate credit is available through Hamline University.
