Orton Gillingham of Minnesota (OGM) provides teachers, tutors and parents with quality training and practicum supervision in the Orton-Gillingham Approach to teaching reading, spelling and writing. Classes are offered by professionals who have been training in the Twin Cities area for over two decades. OGM also provides information about dyslexia and learning disabilities as well as referrals to practitioners trained in the Orton-Gillingham Approach.

    Orton-Gillingham of Minnesota (OGM) provides quality training and practicum supervision in the Orton-Gillingham Approach to teaching reading, spelling and writing. According to the National Reading Panel Report, this multi-sensory approach is the most successful approach when teaching struggling readers. Students are needed to work with teachers learning this method under direct supervision of Certified Orton-Gillingham Teacher of Teachers. Register here.

  • IMSLEC Accreditation
    Orton-Gillingham of MN is accredited by The International Multisensory Structured Language Education Council (IMSLEC) at the Teacher and Instructor-of-Teachers levels The announcement was made and a certificate was presented at the November 2014 meeting of the IMSLEC Council in San Diego. OGM CertificateThe mission of IMSLEC is to accredit quality training courses for the professional preparation of multisensory structured language education specialists. Accredited organizations, in turn, determine which applicants can be certified individually. OGM is currently in the process of sending out forms needed to register members. Member organizations approved by IMSLEC have been pre-approved for membership in the IDA Alliance when it is launched.

  • OGMN Courses
    Teacher training courses provide instruction in the Orton-Gillingham Approach, a phonetic, rule-based, structured, multisensory approach to teaching reading and spelling. It is a systematic and cumulative approach involving intensive reinforcement. All courses include supervised clinical practice teaching with testing procedures and data collection to evaluate student progress. Each course participant practices with a student while under the supervision of a master teacher. Graduate credit is available through Hamline University.
