Summer O-G Course Registration Open Now!

Orton-Gillingham of Minnesota (OGM) provides teachers, tutors and parents with quality training and practicum supervision in the Orton-Gillingham Approach to teaching reading, spelling and writing. Classes are offered by professionals who have been training in the Twin Cities area for over two decades. OGM also provides information about dyslexia and learning disabilities as well as referrals to practitioners trained in the Orton-Gillingham Approach.

2016 Summer Courses

Orton-Gillingham Level 1 Course: The participants will learn strategies to teach beginning reading including phonemic awareness, phonics, and spelling using a multisensory, structured, systematic and cumulative approach plus how to use error analysis to drive instruction. The participant will create lesson plans and work one-to-one with students in a supervised practicum setting. All course materials are included. Early Bird Registration ends May 1. Practicum usually appropriate for students in grades K-3.

Orton-Gillingham Level 2 Course:
The participants will learn strategies to teach intermediate reading and spelling including phonics (rules), syllable types/patterns, and beginning affixes using a multisensory, structured, systematic, cumulative approach plus how to use error analysis to drive instruction.  The participant will create lesson plans and work one-to-one with students in a supervised practicum setting. All course materials are included. Early Bird Registration ends May 1. Prerequisite is O-G Level 1 and 100 practice hours. Practicum usually appropriate for students in grades 4-5.

Orton-Gillingham Level 3 Course: The participants will learn strategies to teach intermediate and advanced reading and spelling skills including syllabication, affixes, and morphophonology to build fluency, strengthen vocabulary, and expand comprehension plus how to use error analysis to drive instruction. The participant will create lesson plans and work one-to-one with students in a supervised practicum setting. All course materials are included. Early Bird Registration ends May 1. Prerequisite is O-G Level 2 and 100 practice hours. Practicum usually appropriate for students in Middle School.
